Chief Youth Courage Awards

Hosted in collaboration with the annual Calgary Police Service Chief’s Awards Gala, the Chief Youth Courage Awards honour children and youth from the crime prevention, education and intervention programs supported by the Calgary Police Youth Foundation.

We are thrilled to celebrate and honor these extraordinary children and youth who have shown remarkable growth, strength, determination, and perseverance throughout their journey with one of the Calgary Police Youth Foundation supported crime prevention, education and intervention programs. These awards are a testament to their hard work and commitment. Our award recipients have demonstrated exceptional qualities and have significantly contributed to their success. As part of their recognition, they serve as program ambassadors, representing CPYF at various campaigns and events throughout the year. Their role is to share their inspiring stories, advocate for the program’s mission, and motivate others with their outstanding achievements.

Meet our 2026 Chief Youth Courage Award Recipients

Damian – Integrated School Support Program 

Damian is a compassionate, confident, and dedicated student at Radisson Park School. Since joining the school community in Grade 3, he has consistently demonstrated leadership, empathy, and a commitment to helping others. Over the years, Damian has become a trusted mentor to younger students, a supportive school patroller, and a positive influence among his peers. He recognizes the strengths in those around him, advocates for fairness, and looks for ways to be of service – whether assisting staff, supporting classmates, or contributing to community initiatives like Shop with a Cop.

Damian’s generosity, integrity, and sense of justice guide his actions. He approaches every responsibility with diligence and care and encourages kindness and inclusion in each interaction. Damian inspires others by standing up for what is right, supporting peers who may feel overlooked, and by modeling empathy through consistent, thoughtful action.

As Damian continues to grow, he is poised to develop further as a leader, using his voice and abilities to make a meaningful difference in his school and community. Receiving this Chief Youth Courage Award serves to recognize his dedication, highlight his positive influence, and encourage him to continue leading with kindness, integrity, and compassion.

Harnoor – Calgary Police Cadet Corps – Award Proudly Presented by Bennett Jones

Inspired by watching her brother in the Calgary Police Auxiliary Cadet program, Harnoor chose to follow in his footsteps by joining the Calgary Police Cadet Corps at the age of fourteen. From the very beginning, she displayed a remarkable sense of curiosity, dedication, and commitment to serving her community.

Over her four years in the program, Harnoor has grown into a confident, capable, and inspiring young leader. Program leaders consistently describe her as responsible, dependable, and compassionate – qualities that shine through in her willingness to mentor fellow Cadets and take on challenges with pride and professionalism.

Beyond her work in the Cadet Corps, Harnoor has devoted countless hours to volunteering in the community, contributing to events that make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Her enthusiasm for policing and community engagement, paired with her empathy, teamwork, and leadership, has left a lasting impact on those around her.

Harnoor exemplifies the values of service, integrity, and excellence, and her accomplishments remind us of the power of dedication and heart in building stronger communities. We are delighted to honor her with this award and are confident that she will continue to strive for excellence in every endeavor she undertakes.

Logan – YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre – Award Proudly Presented by Plintz Real Estate

Logan is a compassionate and enthusiastic student at Patrick Airlie Elementary School. He first joined YouthLink Calgary when he attended a week-long field trip, where he quickly stood out as a quiet leader, helping peers, encouraging participation, and fostering inclusion. Logan’s empathy and teamwork shone during activities like mock forensic investigations and fitness challenges, where he supported classmates and modeled courage and humility.

Beyond the program, Logan has given back to his community through volunteering, including with Dreams Take Flight, showing gratitude and a strong sense of service. Despite personal challenges, he demonstrates emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and a commitment to safe, positive choices.

Logan’s natural leadership, integrity, and dedication to helping others make him a role model among his peers. We hope that receiving this Chief Youth Courage Award validates Logan’s positive contributions and inspires him to continue building a safer, more inclusive community.

Meirick – Multi Agency School Support Team – Award Proudly Presented by Bennett Jones

Meirick is a recipient of the MASST Chief Youth Courage Award, recognized for his resilience, determination, and commitment to personal growth. Referred to the Multi-Agency School Support Team in February 2025, Meirick has worked diligently to strengthen his decision-making, self-regulation, and responsibility, demonstrating remarkable progress both academically and socially.

With support from MASST, his family, and school, Meirick has made significant improvements at school and has developed strategies to manage impulses, even in challenging situations. He has embraced opportunities to build leadership skills through programs such as the City of Calgary LEAD program, the Red Cross Babysitter Course, and CPR-C courses, and is an active participant in extracurricular activities including cross country, Fit Club, and Camp Kiwanis.

Meirick’s intelligence, curiosity, and dedication have enabled him to grow into a thoughtful, responsible, and motivated young leader. He advocates for himself, seeks opportunities to learn and contribute, and continues to work toward his goal of becoming a camp counsellor. His perseverance, ambition, and commitment to personal growth make him a deserving recipient of the Chief Youth Courage Award.

Pierce – Multi Agency School Support Team – Award Proudly Presented by Bennett Jones

Pierce is the proud recipient of the Chief Youth Courage Award, recognized for his determination, resilience, and commitment to personal growth through the Multi-Agency School Support Team program. Since beginning with MASST in April 2025, Pierce has demonstrated meaningful progress in building positive relationships, strengthening his focus, and developing strategies to manage the challenges he faces.

With the support of his family, school, and the MASST team, Pierce has worked hard to achieve his goal of becoming a better friend and a positive member of his community. His ability to reflect, learn, and apply new skills has led to improved behaviour, stronger peer connections, and increased confidence. Known for his infectious energy, kindness, and sense of humour, Pierce brings enthusiasm to everything he does, especially when it comes to soccer, where he continues to thrive and build teamwork skills.

Pierce’s journey is a powerful example of perseverance and growth. His dedication to making positive choices and his willingness to keep trying, even when it’s difficult, make him a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Prescious – Power Play – Award Proudly Presented By Bennett Jones

Prescious first became involved with the Power Play Program after her family sought meaningful summer activities. What began as an introduction to soccer quickly became a turning point in her life. Once profoundly shy, Prescious found confidence and her voice within the program’s supportive, team-oriented environment, emerging as a more outgoing and self-assured young woman.

Through her participation, Prescious has developed strong communication skills, self-discipline, and a positive mindset that guide her both on and off the field. A passionate athlete, she excels in both soccer and hockey, embracing each opportunity to grow and lead. Her leadership is defined by compassion and inclusivity as she uplifts teammates, encourages others to recognize their strengths, and fosters a sense of belonging for everyone involved.

Looking ahead, Prescious aspires to compete at a high level in sports while sharing the lessons she has learned to inspire others. Her dedication to personal growth and her desire to make a positive impact make her a truly deserving recipient of this award.

Sim – Youth at Risk Development Program 

Sim is the recipient of the YARD Chief Youth Courage Award, recognizing his determination, perseverance, and commitment throughout his time in the YARD program. Sim was referred to the YARD program in April 2023. During that time, Sim worked closely with his team to develop his decision-making skills, build positive relationships, and focus on his future goals.

Through his involvement, Sim demonstrated remarkable growth, distancing himself from negative influences and engaging in productive activities such as employment at a local hotel. His dedication and hard work enabled him to graduate high school in June 2025, a milestone he celebrated as proof of his ability to overcome challenges and exceed expectations.

Sim is now preparing to attend the SAIT mechanics program in 2026-2027, while also supporting his family’s business by managing their rental properties. Known for his perseverance, positivity, and strong work ethic, Sim has built a foundation for success that inspires those around him. His journey is a testament to resilience, focus, and the transformative power of determination.
